![]() A basic description of a set up in boxing would be to make your opponent believe one thing is happening and then something else happens for example you feint your jab and throw the left hook or you feint to move right but move left. Set ups – Setting up your moves in boxing basically allows you to apply that move without your opponent being able to see the move coming, we say ‘move’ rather than ‘punch’ because even your defences need to be set up or varied so that as mentioned above you cannot be timed off your opponent. ![]() Timing is a essential parts of all sports and without timing your moves you yourself would be countered! Timing – Timing is when your perform either a defence or an attack at the right time, all boxers have some sort of pattern or combination of moves that can be times if you can read them, an example of this is that if a boxer keeps throwing the same shots over and over then you can time there attack with your counter! Positioning could also be called an angle and could also be classed as ring craft as it allows you to dictate where you and your opponent go in the boxing ring, again this is a massive part of our training in both our advanced boxing classes and our fundamental boxing classes! Positioning – Positioning is having a better position in the ring than your opponent and is a massive part of hitting and not getting hit, experts of this are boxers like Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather.
